When major incidents such as hurricanes strike Orangeburg County, the Emergency Operations Center located within the Office of Emergency Services becomes the County command center from which all response efforts are co-ordinated.

The EOC has operating space for representatives from all major public safety and response agencies as well as extensive telephone, radio and data communications capabilities.
