Orangeburg County Office of Emergency Services

HAZMAT RESPONSE TEAM

The task of Emergency Services when presented with a situation involving hazardous materials is to respond, assess the situation, and take corrective actions to eliminate any threat to the citizens of the County. We co-ordinate an effective response to the incident, provide specialized resources and request additional resources from other agencies in the County and state that may be needed.

Our Hazmat response team consists of over thirty highly trained volunteers willing to respond whenever and wherever needed. The team is fully certified for Level A entry work and intervention actions during spills and releases.

A recent addition to the department is our Hazmat response unit. This unit was purchased using a Homeland Security grant to create a single response vehicle that could carry all Hazmat response equipment, and supplies to a hazardous materials incident.
