The primary responsibility of the Treasurer's Office is to collect all revenues for Orangeburg County, school districts, municipalities, and other political subdivisions situated in Orangeburg County. Revenues include real, personal, and vehicle property taxes as well as other local revenues coming from the local or state level. Idle funds are invested for the benefit of the respective level of local government. Further, the Treasurer's Office is responsible for the disbursement of all public funds as authorized by State statutes and local ordinances.

The Treasurer's Office also collects annual vehicle renewal information for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. This allows taxpayers to receive renewal vehicle decals without having to go to the Highway Department and stand in line.
