Their primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of citizens, visitors, and business owners. In addition to responding to calls and conducting some criminal investigations, Field Services Deputies also work proactively by ensuring safety on the roads, monitoring neighborhoods and communities for criminal activity, and developing relationships with the residents in their patrol region.
Areas of Responsibility
Communications (Dispatch) - All emergency and non-emergency calls for services are answered by dispatchers. For non-emergencies call, (803) 534-3550.
Desk Sergeant - A Desk Sergeant is on duty during regular business hours at the 1520 Ellis Avenue building to complete incident reports for individuals where physical evidence does not have to be examined, collected, or processed.
Reserve Deputies - Reserve Deputies are volunteers that work a minimum of 20 hours each month by responding to calls for service, working special events, and assisting the agency in providing certified manpower.
