OCSO hosts National Missing and Exploited Children Training

5/29/2012 - Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announces his agency is hosting a training for more than 30 law enforcement professionals from across South Carolina on missing and exploited child investigations.

Ravenell explains After participating in a law enforcement executive training seminar on missing and exploited children, I felt it paramount to bring this training to Orangeburg County. The information shared during my training was enlightening and needed to be brought to this area for other agencies to improve their responses and investigations. We have been extremely fortunate that we have not had an incident of this type in Orangeburg County; but there have been several cases in surrounding areas where agencies had to investigate cases of missing children. It is a goal of my administration to provide training opportunities to my officers and the agencies that collaborate with to ensure we all are abreast of the best practices in our profession.

The training will be conducted by Craig Hill. Hill is the National Director of Crime Prevention at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a 35-year law-enforcement veteran and retired Deputy Chief of Police from the Kansas City area.

The training will be held at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College on Wednesday.
