SPRINKLER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Fire Protection (If Applicable)
All sprinkler suppression system drawings shall be submitted to the state for approval. Once approved, sprinkler suppression system drawings and any shop drawings shall then be submitted to Orangeburg County for review.Documentation for facilities with fire sprinkler systems shall include a fire sprinkler system specification sheet and supporting drawings as required by article 40-10-250 of the Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems Act.

Fire Alarm Plan Submittal List - Plans and specifications submitted for review by the Office of Resident State Fire Marshal must contain the following applicable information:- The name, address, and telephone number of the owner or owner's representative.
- The name and street address of the facility containing the proposed system.
- The name, address, telephone number, and license number of the South Carolina fire alarm contractor installing the system.
- The name and address of the local fire department responding to calls for this facility.
- The type of system or service provided (local, remote station, proprietary, central station, etc.).
- Sealed design drawings by a South Carolina registered architect and/or engineer when required by law or regulation.
- Fire alarm shop drawings showing all areas on each floor and the attic. Label each room or area to describe the use (i.e. classroom, kitchen, storage, etc.). Plans must show the location of all system components (horizontal and vertical).
- Power connection (a wiring diagram of the system). Indicate the conductor type and size for each circuit.
- Riser diagram showing the general arrangement of the system, the number of circuits on each riser, and the number of system components on each circuit.
- The manufacturer, model number, and listing information for all equipment, devices, and materials used. Manufacturer’s technical specification sheets should be included for each type of device.
- Provide secondary power supply (battery) calculations.
- Provide voltage drop calculations.
- The interface of fire safety control functions (sprinkler systems, smoke evacuation systems, etc.).
- A complete sequence of operations detailing all inputs and outputs.
NOTE: Omission of required information will delay the review process. Please ensure submitted plans fully address all applicable items. Plan(s) must provide significant information in order to verify compliance with the latest adopted versions of the IBC, IFC, and NFPA 72.

Type 1 and Type 2 Exhaust Hoods - All exhaust hoods shall adhere to the latest edition of the International Mechanical Code, and NFPA 96.All contractors installing commercial kitchen exhaust hoods shall posses a current South Carolina Mechanical Contractors license. Contractors will be required to obtain a permit from Orangeburg County Permitting and Inspection Department. The cost for the permit is $50.00.

ANNUAL DAYCARE INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Daycare and foster homes are required to have annual inspections to maintain their operator’s license with South Carolina Department of Social Services. These inspections are conducted by the resident Orangeburg County Fire Marshall.All life safety issues are inspected and the completed report is forwarded to the Department of Social Services. All items that are not in compliance will have to be corrected to maintain owner(s) operator’s license in a current status.
Owner will have to obtain a permit from Orangeburg County Permitting Department. The cost of the permit is $50.00.

ANNUAL SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSPECTIONS:
All buildings under the jurisdiction of Orangeburg County that contain sprinkler suppression systems are required to perform annual inspection.Records are required to be maintained by the business as well as Orangeburg County Permitting and Inspection Department. Fire Marshall will notify the business as to when the inspection is to be performed.
The business owner will be required to obtain a permit from Orangeburg County Permitting and Inspection Department. The cost of the permit is $50.00.
Contractors installing sprinkler systems will be required to obtain a permit from Orangeburg County Permitting and Inspection Department. The cost of the permit is $50.00.
