Career

Captain Antonia “Toni” Turkvant is a 17-year law enforcement veteran. Antonia “Toni” Turkvant She has worked her way up through the ranks to become the first African-American female to attain the rank of captain. Turkvant has served as a road patrol officer before working in narcotics division.

During her law enforcement career, she has served as an investigator for the State Office of Victim’s Assistance. Prior to her being named the Field Services captain in January 2016, Turkvant served as a shift lieutenant. Additionally she serves as the agency’s quartermaster, responsible for maintaining the operation of the fleet and supplies. She directly supervises the training division.

Turkvant has been with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years. She has served as a field service deputy, victims advocate, investigator, and the agency’s first Regional Lieutenant.

Education

She holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
