Audrey Asbury is a lifelong resident of Vance, South Carolina, a graduate of Holly Hill-Roberts High School, and is committed to excellence and providing service to the citizens of Orangeburg County. She is the daughter of Ms. Bertha Davis and the late Mr. Allen Asbury.
Education, Certifications & More
Ms. Asbury furthered her education by enrolling and graduating from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College with an associate degree in Business of Office System Technology and with a diploma of Business in Automated Office. Being determined with a desire and eagerness for education, she enrolled in Claflin University, Orangeburg, South Carolina in August 2006. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management. Additionally, she is a Certified Driver-Training Instructor with South Carolina Motor Vehicle. Ms. Asbury faithfully attends the monthly meetings of the Vance Concerned Citizens and is a current member of the Rock Hill A.M.E. Church.
In December of 2000, Audrey was hired by the Honorable Roger B. Cleckley, Orangeburg County Auditor. In November 2018, Ms. Asbury was successfully elected to the position of Orangeburg County Auditor and has the privilege of saying, It is very important to continue my work and to provide for the Citizens of Orangeburg County.
Duties
The function of the Auditor's Office is to annually prepare and complete the listing and description of all taxable real and personal properties within the County, Political Subdivisions and Special Purpose Districts, and to provide the type of properties, levy locations and assessed values. The specific duties of the Auditor are listed in Title 12, Chapter 39 of the South Carolina Code of Laws.
Most of the duties for the County Auditor are regulated by the South Carolina Department of Revenue, although some of the activities of the Auditor fall under the Regulation of the South Carolina Comptroller General's Office. Our mission at the County Auditor's office is to exemplify excellence in service and professionalism by providing accurate and timely information on the fairness of all property assessed in Orangeburg County.
